Golf Resort Overview: The Resort at Eagle Point

An Interview With Terri Steinhorst, Chalet Manager Resort at Eagle Point

The ultimate golf vacation is staying and playing at a golf resort. Below is an interview with Terri Steinhorst who shares some valuable information about staying and golfing at The Resort at Eagle Point .

Give our readers an overview of the golf resort.
Enjoy golf year-round at the Eagle Point Golf Club and connect to the best Southern Oregon and Northern California have to offer. Whether your interests include fly fishing on one of our scenic rivers or sipping some of the world's best vintages at a local winery, there's something for everyone nearby.

World Class Golf - When you're ready for a challenge in the majestic Southern Oregon outdoors, pick up your clubs and hit the course. Our award-winning Robert Trent Jones, Jr. golf course will remind you that the game is as much about the natural landscape as it is about that birdie or crushing drive.

We are a top-tier golf club featuring a world-class, semi-private golf experience that is open to the public, with a limited number of memberships available. We are located in picturesque Eagle Point, Oregon, just 10 miles east of Medford.

Our course and the design are the real stars of the show at Eagle Point Golf Club. We are proud to have a spectacular layout created by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Our course, first opened in 1996, features natural terrain and six sets of tees, with distances that range from 5,071 yards to 7,099, which makes this course perfect for all who visit, from the rookies to the seasoned pros. The 180 Acre golf course was part of Melrose Orchard in 1992 when Robert Trent Jones Jr. was brought in to develop a golf course. Jones used the natural streams to provide irrigation and may be best known for the superb sand veneering done during its construction. This process gives the course excellent drainage and creates outstanding conditions year-round. Each hole is specifically designed to optimize the landscape and present you with new challenges around every bend. The course features Bentgrass greens, perennial rye fairways, while roughs combine rye & fescue grass. Temperate weather, rolling fairways, and beautiful vistas make our golf course an ideal place for relaxing and inspiring golf.

State-of-the-art practice facilities include a natural turf driving range, practice bunkers, and chipping area along with a 15,000 square foot putting green. A short golf cart ride from the practice facility is a private training area with natural turf driving range, practice bunker, chipping areas, and putting green.

Eagle Point Golf Club hosts dozens of tournaments each year. The most notable has been the Oregon Amateur Championship, Oregon Association Stroke Plan Championship, and the US Amateur Qualifies.

What Golfers say about Eagle Point Golf Club is that it is "arguably the best course in the Rogue Valley, the ideal combination of length, challenging obstacles, layout, and greens. You have to pick your target because there are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards waiting to catch a wayward drive. The course is always in excellent conditions, the greens run smooth and true, and it's open for year-around play."

The event pavilion provides a Wedding Arbor surrounded by gardens, entertainment, and memorial services.

What type of restaurants do you have on property and what type of dining experience can one expect?
Fine Northwest Cuisine There's no better way to conclude a day on the course than with a delicious meal from our extraordinary chefs at the award-winning Talon Grill. For a lighter fare, food and beverage carry-out options are available from the Osprey Nest, located near the driving range.

Beyond golf what are the top three amenities golfers and non-golfers can enjoy on property?
Our visitors tell us they love the serenity of the English Gardens surrounding the patios and balconies of our lodging, the spectacular views from the patio dining at the Talon Grill, Osprey Nest, and our Entertainment Pavilion.

Our guests are enticed into walking the paths, cycling, or jogging on our 5-mile neighborhood walking trail. They love taking photos of the herds of wild deer, turkey, ducks, geese, and our natural wetlands. When Jones built Eagle Point Golf Club in the mid-1990s, it featured a unique landmark. He had been given a totem pole as a gift, delivered it by helicopter, and placed it near the tee box on the third hole. The pole has seen more than two dozen winters and was restored in 2013. It remains a favorite home for dozens of woodpeckers and our guests whose cameras capture the activities.

When guests want to experience Southern Oregon, they like to take one of our arranged tours; local winery tour & tastings, or a day trip to Crater Lake National Park (the deepest lake in the United States).

In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.

On the golf course, Brian is known as a fierce weekend warrior that fluctuates between a 5-9 handicap. With a soft fade, known as "The Weis Slice", and booming 300+ drives, he can blast it out of bounds with the best of them.
